Details
Specifications tert-Butyl methyl ether (MTBE) is a commonly used organic solvent. It can be synthesized by acid-catalyzed reaction between methanol and isobutene. It is an effective alternate to lead-containing additives for enhancing the octane rating of gasoline. The decomposition mechanism of MTBE by heat-assisted persulfate oxidation under different conditions has been reported. A study suggests that the addition of MTBE increases the number of active sites during polymerization of propene by the stopped-flow method.Synonyms: MTBE; Methyl tert-butyl etherMolecular Formula: C5H12OMolecular Weight: 88.15Linear Structural Formula: (CH3)3COCH3MDL Number: MFCD00008812Purity: 99.9%Melting Point: -110 CDensity: 0.74 g/mL at 25 C (lit.)Refractive Index: n20/D 1.369 (lit.)Signal Word: DangerHazard statements: H225-H315Precautionary statements: P210Hazard Codes (Europe) : F,XiRisk Statements (Europe): 14185Safety Statements (Europe): 9-16-24WGK Germany: 1
