Details
Serpentinite forms when clay- and aluminum-rich rock is altered by water from geothermal systems. Often found in low-grade metamorphic areas, serpentinite is composed of hydrated silicate minerals, particularly phyllosilicates. Great for Geology Classrooms: Ideal for identification and classification exercises. The greenish-colored and smooth-to-the-touch serpentinite is often found as a plane of weakness in faulted rocks. It's excellent for lessons on metamorphic rocks, low-grade deformation, and structural geology. Geologist Selected: Each specimen is carefully selected and hand-processed by an actual geologist to ensure that each sample exhibits defining features. Locally Processed: Our rock and mineral samples are sourced from a variety of locations around the world and processed in Victor, NY. Individually Packaged & Labeled: Each specimen sample is packaged in a transparent bag and labeled with a barcode for easy identification.
