Details
Gypsum is a sulfate mineral formed as a byproduct of evaporating saltwater. When this mineral becomes lithified, it forms rock gypsum, a sedimentary rock. These 3cm samples are great for use as classroom specimens or as part of a small rock collection. Each rock gypsum specimen measures approximately 1 inch (3cm) in length and is formed from the lithification of sulfate evaporite deposits. They are the perfect size for use in classroom identification labs and exercises, corresponding well with Next Generation Science Standards evidence statements. Additionally, they are useful for rock/mineral comparison studies as well as lessons on sedimentary rock formation. Specimens come in a clear, labeled bag for ideal storage.
