Details
Laboratory Blend Nichrome Wire is a low-nickel (0.5%), high-iron alloy designed for laboratory uses. Its composition is 0.5% Ni, 15% Cr, 4% Al, and Balance Fe. This wire is suitable for science experiments, heaters, and electrical appliances, but it is not intended for use with drugs, food, or household applications. Keep out of reach of children and do not use for human consumption. The maximum operating temperature is 1150°C, with an electrical resistivity of 1.30 mm²/m at 20°C. The length of the wire is derived from its diameter, density, and mass, so it may vary slightly. Note that many rolls have an initial layer covered by black paper on the remainder of the spool. This Nichrome wire is available in various diameters ranging from 0.048" to 0.0108" (16/17 AWG to 33/34 AWG) and can be used in many classroom or laboratory applications. Its high temperature resistance also makes it suitable for industrial and hobby hot wire foam cutters, as well as internal support structures in ceramics. The wire is sold by weight, with lengths approximated based on its density, weight, and thickness.
