This life-sized model is enlarged four times to allow for a detailed study of internal and external structures of the human ear. The petrous portion of the temporal bone, which includes a section of the auditory canal, are removable, and the labyrinth can be taken out and opened. Additionally, the tympanic membrane with malleus and incus can also be removed.
