The EISCO Iron Clad Electromagnet consists of two parts: the core, which houses the battery compartment and the electromagnet, and the yoke, made of iron, a strong ferromagnetic material. The lower section of the core contains the electromagnet. When supplied with electricity, you can connect the flat bottom surface of the yoke to the flat bottom surface of the core. Although the iron yoke will not retain a strong magnetic field after being attached and magnetized by the connected core, the electromagnet in the core will retain some magnetic properties after being disconnected – enough to suspend the 0.8-lb yoke but not support any additional force or weight.
