Chalcopyrite: From the same family as fool's gold, chalcopyrite is a yellow crystalline mineral consisting of a sulfide of copper and iron. It is the principal ore of copper formed in hydrothermal veins. Great for geology classrooms: Chalcopyrite's formation exhibits fractures and has a brassy luster, making it an excellent tool for studying economic geology and great for use in comparative identification exercises. Geologist selected: Each specimen is carefully selected and hand-processed by an actual geologist, ensuring that each sample exhibits its defining features. Locally processed: Our rock and mineral samples are sourced from a variety of locations around the world and are processed in Victor, New York. Individually packaged and labeled: Each specimen sample is packaged in a transparent bag and is labeled and barcoded for easy identification.
